Virat Kohli has broken Sachin’s record, becoming the fastest Indian to reach 13,000 ODI runs in just 267 matches.

The former Indian captain summarized his innings overnight in the Reserve Day during the Asia Cup 2023 Super Four match between India and Pakistan. He scored a half-century in just 55 balls and then took only 29 balls more to complete his 47th ODI century.

In this process, Virat surpassed the legendary Tendulkar in his 267th ODI innings. This means that he’s now the fastest batsmen in the world to score 13,000 ODI runs.

Virat Kohli achieved 13,000 ODI runs in 54 fewer innings than Tendulkar. He scored his 47th century, which is only 2 centuries behind the iconic Sachin Tendulkar.

On the other hand, KL Rahul also joined forces with Kohli during the match between India and Pakistan, scoring his sixth century. They put together an unbeaten 233-run partnership for the third wicket, reaching a massive total of 356-2, which is the highest partnership for any wicket in the history of the Asia Cup, surpassing the 231-run partnership between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sachin Tendulkar in 1996 in Sharjah.

Despite a one-hour and 40-minute delay due to rain, the match on Monday was played with a total of 50-50 overs.

India’s first match in the Asia Cup against Pakistan was also affected by rain. After the Indian innings, the game was abandoned. There is a possibility of weather disruptions during the Super 4 stage in the Sri Lankan capital. The decision of the Asian Cricket Council is to reserve a day for India vs. Pakistan match and the final, where the fierce rivals may meet again.
