Beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme will receive double benefits. While the price of domestic LPG cylinders has been reduced by 200 rupees, Ujjwala beneficiaries will now receive a subsidy reduction of 400 rupees per cylinder.

This means that after the additional subsidy, the price of an LPG cylinder in Delhi for Ujjwala beneficiaries will be 703 rupees, and in Mumbai, it will be 702.50 rupees.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries are already getting a Rs 200 subsidy, but they will also gain a furthur reduction of rupees 200. This means the reduction for PMUY beneficiaries will be Rupees 400 per cylinder.

He further said that under the scheme, these women will receive a free gas burner, the first LPG cylinder, and a free pipe.

Anurag Thakur announced that under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, 75 lakh new gas connections will be provided free of cost. He also said that the Prime Minister has given a big gift to 75 lakh women, by providing complimentary gas connections under the Ujjwala scheme.

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was launched in March 2016. Its primary objective is to provide economically disadvantaged women, especially those below the poverty line, with access to clean cooking fuel.
